We are however running into major difficulties in our attempts to purchase slightly larger quantities. After speaking to Albion Chemicals (our closest drumming agent) I found out that the price per drum is approximately 50 GBP (if we drive and pick it up), and that the minimum purchase is 100 GBP, so 2x drums of caramel. As we're currently going through an estimated maxiumum of 5kg per year in our home-manufacture of Cube-Cola at the cinema, and Albion advise us that the shelf life of the caramel is approximately 1 year, we have a large problem of scale. Albion are determined that they can neither sell us a single drum, nor release a smaller quantity of caramel into our care. We considered approaching one of their buyers to see if we could sub-purchase caramel from them, but Albion are not prepared to reveal their buyer names to us. Solutions seem to be few, so I was wondering if there is any way we can make a special arrangement with you, to purchase the sample size caramel in larger quantities on an onging basis (eg. 10x 500g per year) - we are entirely happy to pay for this, and realise you have done us a great favour in all the free supplies so far. Our project is attracting a lot of attention both from home foodscience enthusiasts and national media, and our recipe is graually improving. We would regret to end it due to the caramel impasse.
