Sketches of Zone. Not for costing. Preliminary ideas.

These images are sketches and ideas informing my work on the fabric and layout of the building.
The upper mezzanine or gallery area will hopefully be the site of the relocated office which occupies the volume under the stage.
When thinking about a space from scratch we can design its functionality around its use, hence pictures of octagonal tables and workstation ergonomics.
For me the entire office should be the expression of the ideals of the organisation. This means every desk a hotdesk, shared paper resources, cells or lockers for peoples personal clutter, a filing system like a directory structure, clearly marking what going where. Open debate will commence should we ever face these issues as a collective. For instance some feel uneasy facing people when working and prefer to have backs to everyone. Some people prefer irregular workpoints so no workstation has the same perspective on others... Most sketches below have been vastly improved so I will be putting them up soon. All 3D drawings have been done using ac3d on Linux/Fedora Core2. See it at www.ac3d.org

Left stage view. The layout as seen from outside looking at the balcony opening.

Zone plan. The new zone floor is higher than the balcony level requiring some kind of dogleg.

Wide view. The bigger view reveals capapcity of space above stage/screen area.

View from stage. Looking from the stage with partition wall removed.

Workstation ergonomics. Flat screesn would give us lots of space.
